Lost hikers from Florida rescued at Yeon State Park

MULTNOMAH COUNTY, Ore. — Crews worked for several hours late Monday night to locate two lost hikers at Yeon State Park.

According to a news release from Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, the two hikers got lost during a 5-mile hike on Elowa Falls trail around 5 p.m.

They had run out of water and had no emergency supplies. A 911 operator helped ping their location, and a search and rescue personnel team was sent out to the area just before 9 p.m.

Search crews made contact with the hikers around 10:30 p.m. on the Nesmith Point trail. They were evaluated and given water, and are in the process of being transported back to command post at Yeon State Park.

They’ve been identified as 39-year-old Robert Denney and 37-year-old Andrea Kraiosky of St. Petersburg, Florida.
